I found the house of my dream but my scores were to low to get a mortgage loan. My scores jumped when I did this one thing. This is how I got approved.
The side effects of bad credit are well known, denials from creditors, high interest rates and missed opportunities. I wanted to buy a home for my family but I couldn’t even get approved for a credit card. I had a good job but a very low credit score. Many little things seemed to stack up against me such as the time when I got into an accident and when my husband lost his job and we had to decide to pay our rent and let go of our credit cards. I talked to family and friends and somebody had recommended I work with a reputable credit repair company. I reached out to and spoke with a credit expert. During the initial consultation, he explained that we were going to work towards removing the negative items from my credit report such as the medical bills and the credit card charge offs. He also explained that I will need to reestablish my credit by opening a few credit cards. I engaged their services. It felt good to know that I had a team of professionals working on cleaning up my credit report.
A few months later I spoke with the consultant again. He called with great news, all the negative items had been removed from my credit report. Hurray!!!! But there was one side effect, there was nothing on my credit report left but my name and address. There was literally no accounts left reporting. I was left with a clean report, but I had a zero credit score. He explained that this was due to me not having any open-active accounts. He reminded me that I was supposed to have open a credit card when we first started because it can take 6-12 months to build my credit. I needed to get started with my credit building today, so I immediately went out and got a small credit card from Capital One.
The next week I stumbled upon the house of my dreams. I was taking my dog for a walk in my neighborhood and I noticed a for sale sign on a very cute house across the street from my daughters school. It was perfect. It had a nice yard for the dog, a garage for our two cars and it was so close to school, our daughter could almost walk herself.
I was so excited but I wasn’t sure if my credit was ready. I just opened the new credit card last week. I called my credit expert and he agreed that it was too early. The account was too new to generate any value. He told me that what I needed was a seasoned tradeline. I asked him, what in the world is a seasoned tradeline. He explained that a seasoned tradeline is when someone shares their good credit with you by adding you to their credit card account as an authorized user. That account appears on your credit report and lends all of its value to your credit score. So instead of taking the next couple of years to build my credit up to a 720+ I can purchase a seasoned tradeline and get my home within a couple of weeks! It was certainly worth a try but first, I thought I’ll just apply for the mortgage and see what happens. Sure enough, the loan officer pulled my credit report and I had no score at all. He suggested I open a credit card and call him back in 6-12 months. I didn’t have 6-12 months. I wanted that house and I was willing to do what it takes. I immediately called my credit expert and purchased two seasoned tradeline accounts.
Over the next several weeks I waited patiently until the tradeline showed up on my credit report. I was biting my nails as I nervously checked day after day to make sure that the house wasn’t sold from under my feet. The day the credit expert called and told me that the accounts were on my credit report and I had the green light to move forward with my financing I was ecstatic! I immediately called my loan officer and told him to pull my credit report again. She was reluctant to repull thinking nothing had changed but I insisted. I could hear her jaw dropping over the phone. She seemed bewildered and confused when she told me that my mid score was now a 730. All I needed for the approval was a 640!! But the 730 allowed me to qualify for an even better rate and saved me several hundred dollars per month on my mortgage payment. The loan officer was able to give me a pre-approval letter that day which I took to a Realtor and made an offer on that house. The offer was accepted and I closed a few weeks later.
After closing the loan for my home I called to thank my credit expert for his help. If it wasn’t for his work I’d still have poor credit and I’d still be in that rental. I was very appreciative. That’s when he gave me even more valuable advice. He told me that the seasoned tradelines wouldn’t stay on my credit report forever and that now was the time for me to truly establish my own credit. I went home and made several credit card applications and was able to get approved for several high limit credit cards.
It’s been a full year and my own credit is now strong enough to give me scores in the low 700s even without the seasoned tradelines. I have recommended this service to many family members. I only wish I would have found a service like this years ago.
